ironic epiphany

2/4/2014

Picture
Irony - a situation that is incongruous and strange because things happen in a way that seems to be the opposite of what you'd expect : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events, and the normal or expected result : an event or result marked by such incongruity

Another brilliant star unexpectedly burns out. Another overdose.

I find disgusting fault with the use of certain ironic words to describe these falling stars. You will die of a dose of heroin; not an overdose. There is no recommended dosage, and any amount is too much. And you will not die unexpectedly. You cannot expect to live a happy, healthy, long life doing what you do. Falling stars should expect to fade to black.

Shooting stars blaze the sky with a fiery trail of delightful destruction, and then are gone.
~~~~~~~
Epiphany - a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something :  an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking : an illuminating discovery or realization
